After having time to think about this I like it.
I hate losing Fox as I was very high on him but he wasn’t gonna sign, not with Valimaki, Kylington, Andersson ahead on the depth chart. Also shows he didn’t want to battle to prove his worth, bye bye.
Hamilton is great offensively, no denying this, but I was never a fan of his lazy penalties and soft play in his own zone. Gio is a tank and has an engine that only few other defenders have in the league. Every time hamilton was away from him he was a mess, he’s not a above average defender. If Hanifin can come in and get close to Hamilton’s offence at some point while being better in his own zone I will be very pleased. I also think Hamilton wasn’t that great at skating with the puck through the neautral zone.
Ferland is what he is and I think we all know what that is. He’s a streaky player who can play with other skilled players but he is just not a first liner but he is only effective on the first line. His physicality also never got close to that Vancouver series, defensively he was a mess as well.
Excited to have Lindholm and Hanifin in the fold, I hope they both have wonderful careers in Calgary and I hope every Flames fan gives them support.
Also those worried about RW depth, flames will still have cash to go and get a RW in free agency, especially with the cap rising.
If things were bad with Hamilton I would not of wanted to risk him going to free agency in 3 years. His give a #### meter is obviously low and after reading his brother he probably bolts to whatever team offered him the most money.
Go Flames
