So overall I still am a "Meh" on the trade but mostly because I hate when you have deals that you give up the best player and the best prospect...that should never happen.
The first line is now set with three proper top line forwards.

The defense doesn’t lose anything, probably gains as this player is trusted defensively to kill penalties. Is younger. And can be played without Gio on the other side without said defensive concerns. And doesn’t have the whispers of his mental state off the ice where the Flames had to tip toe around some things. The Flames placating to sign and have his brother live with him since arriving just seemed weird, something Boston didn’t want to do. Hanifin will long term be more valuable and less of a headache on and off the ice.

Fox was an unsigned player who clearly wasn’t 100% all in on the Flames, who’ve kept tabs on him since before drafting him. Again, could be a Tom Edison thing, or a great player, but there is that magic bean element to a guy like thet, especially highly touted (in some circles).

Flames still need some secondary scoring, meaning Backlund and Frolik have to be better, or someone has to move up or be acquired to be on that line. It’s just not scary enough offensively for teams to worry too much about, and they can focus all on the top line.

Again, Peters having these two guys these past years is not to be overlooked for skill and attitude reasons alike.
