This trade essentially re-makes the entire look of the top-six and the team’s defense, and I like the players coming back A LOT. It feels like an overpayment, but without seeing the on-ice results I will remain somewhat ambivalent.
After this the Flames have a lot of really intriguing, young forward pieces: along with Monahan, Gaudreau, and Tkachuk, now also Lindholm added to a group that includes Bennett and Jankowski.
The Flames defense is starting to look more like it is in a stage of transition to much younger players.

I also believe we are not done. Whether we go UFA route or move another Dman I still see another RW coming to play with Tkachuk. And Jankowski who is going to light it up as the second line center.
