Yes, that's exactly what they did.
Also, no good organizations ask their young players to carry lines by themselves the way the Flames asked Bennett to. They gave him nothing to play with in his 2nd year - nothing. In his 2nd year, they started him with nothing and then gave him a 45 year old winger and a rookie centre, followed by a rookie centre and an AHL grinder.
Meh, I've had this debate before numerous times and thrown up plenty of reasons why we should be optimistic about Bennett going forward, but whatever - enjoy your negativity.
