I think that if this is all Treliving does, it's a failure. If he gets a player that can contribute now then he's fleeced whatever GM gave up that high of a pick.
I think this has to be viewed as the first domino. If Treliving is adding 1 or 2 players to the top 9 this summer, Bennett is going to have to bring his A-game to stay there. Treliving could just be pulling the trigger now, rather than risk trying to sell pressbox Bennett.
If he isn't adding to the top-9, and this was just a flip to get into the first round... this hurts. I agree that Bennett as he is now is something I'd rather have than someone who might be a few years out.
