That would be foolish.
Treliving's job is to improve the team, and if he can make improvements today, then he needs to be active. At the very least, he needs to be talking and listening to the other 29* GMs in the NHL. If he is not fielding a tonne of calls today, then it is fair to suggest that he is not doing his job.
*I am invoking the "Peter Chiarelli exclusion clause" here.
