This current team has a 3 year window before Hamilton needs likely at least $8M per which is followed by trying to keep Gaudreau who will command at least $10M. I don’t think they are ready so swapping out a 25 year old for a 21 and 23 year old makes some sense to me.
I have felt since the season ended Hamilton was the guy on the outs. I prefer they find a comparable forward and make a blockbuster trade personally than the Canes deal.

I agree that if the flames trade Hamilton it should be for a comparable (elite) forward and not for pieces we hope will develop.
I disagree that hanifin has the same or similar potential as Hamilton, the numbers don't back that up.
