Then the flames brass better figure things out quickly because Gio has one maybe two elite level seasons left before he loses a step or two and is the one being "propped up" by whoever his partner is.
The problem with trading Dougie Hamilton now is that you know you will have a big need for a new top defenseman within about 1.5 -3 seasons as Gio's role will decrease by that time and he will not be the main guy carrying water for this team on the back end.
Is it Brodie? Hamonic? Stone? Kulak? Can andersson, valimaki or fox be that guy? If im Tre thats not a risk im willing to take.
So in that respect if you move dougie you pretty much know you're gambling on your prospects turning out to be norris (top 15 in voting) calibre
