Why would we take on all of the risk for trading a bonafide top2 D for a 40pt W/C and a player that may or may not be as good as D.Hamilton in a few years?
Because we might get two players who the Flames believe have yet to reach their potential for one they believe already has.

I'm not saying I agree, but if the Flames believe they are getting two players who they think will be better in the along run, that would be their thought process.
