Summary:
In 2013 a Canadian clarinetist got accepted into a prestigious music school with a full ride scholarship.
His then girlfriend was able to intercept the acceptance e-mail, delete it, and faked a rejection e-mail. She also sent the school an e-mail posing as the clarinetist turning down their offer. The clarinetist thought he got rejected and that was the end of that.
In 2016 he auditioned for the same professor that had made the scholarship offer. The professor questioned why the clarinetist wanted to study under him after turning down the previous offer.
This set off alarm bells and after some investigating, the clarinetist was able to discover his ex-girlfriends deception.
Quote:
The judge agreed, awarding Abramovitz $300,000 for the value of the lost scholarship and income, as well as an additional $75,000 for legal fees and compensation for having a “dream snatched from him by a person he trusted.”
