Interesting take by Friedman this morning on the Fan. Just paraphrasing what he said, but basically that he spoke to a GM of a team. That GM told him that if he was to even consider bringing in Hoffman at a discounted trade price, he would have to speak with the leadership group of the team and ask them to go over with their significant others if this is something the rest of the team and other significant others could handle. I think it's safe to say that Hoffman's fiance is going to be completely blacklisted around the league.

Having said that I'm sure some GM out there will pay a price to get Hoffman. It's not like he's some 4th line plug who will just disappear and the league won't miss him. He's a legit top line forward who can help a team upfront almost immediately. The price to acquire him will be less then what it was a couple weeks ago. I do think a lot of where he ends up depends on his status with his fiance and if he chooses to continue their relationship.

I never thought I'd see the day where an NHL player's career is dependant on whether he chooses to stay with the person he is in a relationship with. It's literally the age old dilemma of choosing love or choosing money.

As horrible as this whole situation is and I feel for the Karlssons, this has been fascinating to watch from the comforts of my computer chair.
