Geography will be a huge consideration, for sure. Even without Canada and Mexico involved, the US is a pretty massive place.
I'd expect the group stage to held in little geographic clusters, and then the latest rounds will be all in the US. I doubt that anyone will be going from Edmonton to Mexico City, and even if they did for the round of 32, for example, there should be a few days in between.
