Could be but I feel this is highly unlikely. If she is that broken and toxic all the time then Hoffman would have to know and he almost certainly would have kicked her to the curb by now, in love or not. There could be a dozen scenarios why this occurred and until we know all the details (if that ever even happens) I am not jumping to conclusions.
