Two things jump out at me:
1) "As a private peace bond application, the application was made by Karlsson herself, not the police. And as Caryk was the only named defendant, the summons can only be served on her, not Hoffman."
-This suggests that Mike was kept in the dark while Monika was likely aware of the summons.
2) "Hooper said that the forward and defenceman have not discussed the issue."
-That's got to be bad news. You play the game at the highest level for your teammates with your heart and soul, that bond is one step lower than being brothers. This isn't a coincidence or 'just haven't had time to chat' yet.
All in all, it's really tough to not jump to conclusions when there is such overwhelming evidence and it all makes such reasonable sense.
As a side note - I remember seeing the Ottawa-Flames game later in the season, and thinking that Karlsson was checked out. There were obviously plenty of other reasons for that, but I didn't realize that this was probably just another layer of issues distracting him. I'm sure it distracted the rest of the team too. What a gong show!
