Basically a cap move for the Jets. From their side they are familiar with Frolik, and he's somewhat a wash with Perrault, but he only has two years left where as Perrault has 3 years left. They get a much cheaper bottom pairing D with upside in Kulak for Kulikov, and because of that they add Petan.
Flames on the other hand get a good young skilled forward in Petan who is blocked in Winnipeg, and with Kulikov get a pretty solid Dman who has played top 4 before, which would allow them to potentially move Brodie for a legit top 6 forward without severely weakening our top 4 D group.

Not a bad trade but the Flames take on over $4M in the deal. I would want the Jets to include a pick or two for that as I am not sure Petan is worth it.
