While the NDP did gain votes and seats, the night is certainly Fords, and this is another example of voter anger crushing a party.
Kathleen Wynne's conceding strategy completely failed as a lot of the long time Liberals were sent packing, and in the end the hope of either sneaking up the middle or of preventing a majority and giving the Liberals some kind of say in a minority government utterly failed. Its now up to Ford on whether the Liberals get official party status and the funding that comes with it, my thought is that Horwath will push Ford not to grant that status as the NDP would directly benefit from a dead Liberal Party. And right now for the next few years, the Liberal brand is dead while they rebuild, and they're going to have to get on the fund raising horse.
I watched Wynne's speech tonight and while it was emotional, she mentioned that she was passing the torch to the next generation, and that would be a nice sentiment if she hadn't set the house on fire and burned it to embers before passing it on. Its going to be tough to find anyone that's going to want to pick up the baton.
