To a degree, perhaps. I assume, similar conversations were held in the late 1800's, when older officers bitterly complained about the youth not willing to learn fencing anymore... Some skills are definitely used a lot less nowadays - mental math being a good example. Not a good thing, perhaps, but inevitable. Will it soon become a useless skill, like fencing or calligraphy?
