Your assuming growing a plant = a growop. That's not the case, what damages the houses is excessive humidity from growing like a few dozen plants as opposed to the handful a private user would grow. On top of that, growops usually illegally modify electrical and water supplies which causes further damage. Basically growops are trying to turn homes into a greenhouse (snicker) and a typical house isn't designed to deal with that kind of humidity.
Growing a few pot plants is no different to growing/having a few plants in your house that you likely already have anyways. There is nothing inherently dangerous about growing a pot plant in your home.
