I think the uncertainty of fox signing or not signing is overblown, for the Flames or any other team.

If the Flames were to put Fox on the open market, you don't think they could get a first or equivalent? If fox is that good, and by all accounts he is, I would tend to think you're going to get more than two or three teams who are interested, driving his value up.

The Flames hold the cards here. At the end of the day, Fox is an asset with considerable value to not only the Flames, but whichever team acquires him. If a team wants him, they're going to pay a price to get him. In a league where young right shot D men who run a PP are at a premium who have the pedigree Fox has, some team will step up and pay for it. They don't grow on trees.
