The steps to my home can probably be unscrewed and kicked off in about a minute or two. This might be useful information to keep in mind in the event of a zombie apocalypse.
Zombies would have a difficult time getting around a random 4 foot height gap... right?
In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I think Calgary/Canada turns to home made harpoons and spears as the weapon of choice. It really seems like it would be the most practical weapon to fabricate en masse. It would have distance, be of a reasonable weight and materials should be easily available.
1. Cut off a hockey stick blade.
2. Slightly splinter tip and insert a typical kitchen knife.
3. Reinforce via melting, gluing, duct tape etc. as necessary the knife into place
4. Tape the stick as necessary using hockey tape.
Could a post apocalyptic summer camp for adults and kids alike be a viable business idea? Have an acreage (or rent acreages that are ok having constructed things left behind) that's completely off grid and self sustaining. Typical survival stuff, but also teach construction, smithing, electronics (maintenance, survival hacking, communications, power) etc. Sorta like... an above ground vault idea from Fallout.
