The only reason Bouchard had a high profile for a while was when she made the finals at one of the majors (Wimbledon?).
Very close to winning a major as a Canadian and attractive? That buys you some profile that lasts longer than she likely deserved given how her game totally tanked.
If abanda does similarly well and doesn’t get the profile as well, there’s definitely a case. There are so many potential factors that can be at play here (including potential racism) but it’s hard to attribute it to one over all others.
