I enjoy having four seats much more than two. Myself and a friend each have a pair, but have been side by side for the last 4-5 years, so I have done it both ways. Having 4 is more like an event or a party, having 2 is like a date.
In regards to distribution, keep it simple and do it before the season starts, then go from there. We brought in another guy last year, he was assigned 20 games on a pair, but would sometimes want 4. We didn't really trade games, it was more like "I can't make Saturdays game, can you use the tickets?". Each ticket was worth $80, we kept track and settled up at the end of the year. Also, if people are paying by installments, have fixed payment dates, preferably in advance.
One of the downsides to 4 is relocation. In recent years, the Flames have not made accommodations for groups of 4, so it is hard to move a group of 4. Last year, when the first relocation slot opened, we moved a pair into the middle of a group of 6, then grabbed the pair beside when the later relocation slot opened.
Trust is a big thing. I have heard lots of stories where people are sharing tickets, but the primary ticket holder cancels. As a rule, you cannot transfer personal season tickets (outside of family), but you can list a secondary holder on your account. If you need to transfer the tickets, they will take it on a case by case basis. (at least when I asked five years ago.). As far a playoff tickets, discuss it in advance. Do you get 4 tickets to every fourth game, 2 to every second game, 1 to every game. If the rules are laid out in advance, you should be able to avoid problems.
It has worked well for us. We are also interested in taking on another 1/4 or 1/2 share.
