It's not a bad idea if the Flames are getting the vibe that Fox is going to finish school and Jimmy Vesey them. Turn a 3rd rounder that isn't going to sign with you anyways, into a 1st rounder when you don't have one.
But yeah, if they think Fox will sign with them, I'd rather keep Fox, or trade him for something that can help immediately. Like packaged up for Zibanejad, from the Brooks example earlier.
