To imagine being a scouting agent and drafting goalies would be like terrible. It gives me nightmares.
There is real no indicator. I think you are looking not at the stats, but calmness, tenacity, fight in the crease, a couple other things like height, stick movement puck awareness.... the list goes on. But how do you draft a good goaltender?
Then mix that in with a crappy defence or an underperforming team. Then use Malcolm's tipping point was he born in the right month? Take outliers like Gio or Matt Murray. Take MAF' he always seemed to be riding the offensive prowess of the Pens.
Would honestly be a good article for Kelly Hrudey to write. Everyone is talking about every moving piece on the team and the goaltender is basically the King on the chess board.
