I think Tkachuk is just under Dougie in terms of value and importance to the team, something under $5.75M long term seems about right.
It's hard to argue over $6M when Mackinnon signed $6.3@7years and Scheifele at $6.1@8years.
Even if you take into account that the cap is projected to increase a bit, I can't see Tkachuk's aav being above $6M.

Sign him to a 2 year bridge for 3m / yr. Deal Trouba got after hold out.
That leaves 28.5 for the last 4 years that would be negotiated as a RFA last off season.
7.15 that would get the deal done Making Hamilton the 9th highest paid D-man in the league... behind Subban, Burns, Hedman, Weber, Byfuglien, Ekblad, Suter, Letang.
Flames could easily justify keeping him to less than the 6.75 Gio level for 4 to 6 years.
That is why a lot of teams like to do a bridge rather than overpay in advance.
