We could just change taxation to square footage of lot size in addition to value to ensure that people properly pay for their contribution to sprawl. Infills should be heavily incentivized to increase density in poorly designed car neighbourhoods. This way at least people who want to keep 50 x150 foot lots will pay for the privilege.
