The Flames biggest hole is not having a right handed shot top 6 forward who will play PP1. The Jets have Laine, Scheifele and Wheeler. The Preds have Forsberg and Johansen. The Sharks have Pavelski. The Knights have Marchessault and Perron. The Penguins have Kessel and Hornqvist. The Caps have Ovechkin and Oshie. The Bruins have Bergeron, Pastrnak, Krejci, Backes. The Lightning have Stamkos, Johnson, Point.

We have our hopes riding on Kris Versteeg being healthy.

Tavares doesn't solve that. He'd be a nice addition, but not a solution
This insistence on Shot handedness only began with Gulutzen. It won't matter that we're missing a winger with a right handed shot if Tavares is popping 35+ goals on our top line next year and elevating Tkachuk and Bennett's numbers. Our problem is a lack of depth scoring and our 2nd/3rd/4th line getting outmatched. Tavares fixes both of those problems immediately.
