I've come around on the hire. I'm cautiously optimistic because I still believe Treliving is a good GM who has forgotten more about hockey than I will ever know. He has a path - it's not the populist conventional path - but he seems confident in it so I will remain confident in him.
It's weird though - I've never been more pessimistic about ownership generally, so on that front I'm sort of down about my fandom. I hate the in game experience now. I used to tolerate it, but I actively dislike it now. It's dated, outclassed by other franchises, and partly feels like the owners are actively trying to avoid improving it to help sell the case that we need a new rink. It's like how they won't put debit machines in at McMahon - no reason to do so other than being cheap and thinking it maybe will convince people that the game experience is beyond salvageable in the current home.
So, cautiously optimistic about the coaching hire, but also at an all time low for myself in fan investment due to factors above the pay grade of Treliving.
