Yeah, this isn't talked about enough.

I'm just really surprised at the level of negativity about this hire. Usually, on this board, people are really optimistic about changes, because there's a good possible outcome and a bad possible outcome and we're biased towards the good one. I guess people really had their hearts set on someone else, be it AV or Sutter or whoever. But even so, assuming that this is going to result in mediocrity and "wasted years" before the guy even gets to his office seems needlessly pessimistic.

Peters is a good coach. He was coaching a team that didn't have a lot of scoring talent and couldn't get a save this year, and they were solid regardless. I'm quite confident that barring catastrophe (of the injury sort, most likely) the Flames will be back in the playoffs next season, and will be playing the sort of hockey that lends itself to postseason success.
