Why do some posters insist on trading Janko after less than a year. On a team that was among the bottom in offense we would dump a player that arguably has the biggest upside if used correctly next year. A little perspective, Janko was in the top 10 in rookie goal scoring and despite having among the lowest playing time, he has more goals than highly touted prospects like Debrusk, Heinen, Tuch, and Kempe despite virtually no PP time. He scored more goals than the highly regarded college signing in Jimmy Vessey. Vessey responded with a much better season this year once he adapted to the NHL grind.
He scored 17 goals, of course 4 of the were scored in the last game. But we all saw that Janko was a pass first centre and with better finishing wingers would have had far more assists. We also saw that the only time GG threw him a bone and played him on the top line and PP he scored 4 goals without Johnny putting them on a platter.
Would you really trade a player after he just scored 4 goals in the NHL in his first NHL season. How many elite player have played in the NHL that have never scored a hat trick...I am sure a lot. I realize that players like Bennett and Gagne have scored 4 goals and have not accomplished much since but Janko is just scratching the surface.
