I had just learned that is what cats do when they pass as last Wednesday we put down our little girl who was suffering from liver failure (I'm still messed up over it).
Anyway, I feel horrible.
I know the accident wasn't my fault and I know there's nothing I can do. Yet, I feel like I should do something to show my condolences.
I have no idea what I can do, or should do.
Any suggestions?

Do whatever your conscience says you should do, nothing more, nothing less. The animal shouldn't have been left to run at it's own discretion, but that doesn't mean the family isn't hurting.
