It's not common for a team to finish 31st overall one year and make the playoffs soundly in the two seasons following. Matthews obviously is a big help, but the Leafs are night and day before and after Babcock. Their underlying numbers are good and they are an entertaining team.
Babcock is simply one of the greatest coaches of all time.
