You have a guy with poor results, and people throwing out excuses for poor results.

Sure the two coaches are not the same people. But those are similarities in the overarching story

Peters is reportedly crusty. Gulutzan is nice.

I think some level of skepticism, even a healthy level, is reasonable. There are known coaches out there who have succeeded.

That’s why this is a ‘smartest guy in the room’ move.

There are different kinds of smartest guys in the room. Those who are and those who think they are.
Heck I'll be a bit skeptical of Peters if he's hired until he proves he's a good choice.

I'm just arguing that raging against the choice seems bizarre since we as a fanbase are pretty uninformed on Peters.

I'm arguing that equating GG to Peters is silly. Like simplistic to the point of it being a laughable opinion to have. Obviously there are some similarities. And obviously there are some dissimilarities. Enough to immediately dismiss the foolish notion that one guy almost exactly equals the other guy. I mean it should just be obvious that no two coaches are almost exact clones of each other. Obvious to the point that suggesting it should be seen as preposterous.

Would I prefer a coach who has more of a proven track record of winning? Yeah. Will I be skeptical of Peters until he proves himself? For sure I will. But I'm not buying this GG = Peters talk. I'm not buying this idea that Peters is doomed to be an unsuccessful hire should Treliving make it.

In the end we'll have to wait and see. I personally trust Treliving to make the choice he thinks best. I don't think his primary motivation in making the coaching hire will be how smart does he look. I think he wants to contend and he'll hire the coach he thinks gives the Flames the best chance to contend. Only time will tell if he makes the right choice. I voted Sutter myself but I won't hate Peters if he's the choice.
