What Sutter did in LA was abnormal.
I think it's either his strategy to get the Kings in as a bubble team to stream to into the playoffs or his teams are either too tired and bruised up going into the final stretch of the seasons. The first cup he won with the Kings was very similar to what happened with the Flames. It was a fresh start for the players after a coaching change and everyone was psyched up and ready to play for him going into the playoffs. Like what Sutter also said, the Kings were also more skilled than the Flames ever was and they were able to use their size and speed at those times to pound the opponents over long series. History also shows Sutter hockey is not sustainable over the 3rd or 4th season with him behind the bench. It's hard work over long seasons. His style probably took a toll on his players or they tuned out by the 4th or 5th season.
