Any coach might or might not work. A proven coach might suck here, but the tangibles you're hiring a proven coach for are a lot easier to justify.
If Peters is hired here, and we do well, then thank god, but if he doesn't? How does Brad justify another experiment for a coaching hire again?
The core players, the players I think will stay through any player movement (Monahan, Gaudreau, Hamilton, Backlund) are burning through their prime years here, not so much with Hamilton clearly because he's young.
Another 2 year coaching mistake takes Gio to the twilight of his career.
I just don't see it as a time to gamble on a hire. He needs to get this one right. Peters is a gamble, and not just in the sense that any coaching hire is a gamble, because yes, they are. He's more of a gamble because he just hasn't shown he can do it here in the same amount of seasons Gulatzan has had.
