Yes, obviously there are people willing to coach in the NHL that are available. If BT hires another rookie, or unproven NHL coach and things don't work out, he's in serious trouble. So he might be waiting to fire GG so he can be sure he gets a proven coach and avoid being in a position where he has to hire another unproven, rookie coach.
IMO, keeping GG or hiring another rookie coach or equally undesirable options, and I wouldn't choose one over the other. Tre could maybe survive having a proven NHL come in and fail, he certainly couldn't survive GG failing another year, or another rookie coach failing. From a job security stand point, what he is doing makes sense.
