Sometimes, that can be the problem. If you've been watching a kid for too long, you can have some preconceptions about him from his younger days that he's grown out of, but you still have in the back of your mind.
It's like in the business world where sometimes a person who started with a company when they were very young will find themselves pigeon-holed by that company and need to go elsewhere to advance their career.
There was obviously something that made teams hesitate about Point. Every scouting service had him ranked much higher than he actually went. Craig Button had him ranked 17th, and even that was selling him short compared to his actual performance. Every team dropped the ball on Point, even Tampa.
