Not sure why the Hamonic deal is 'dumb'. First of all we don't know what the tangible assets given up are. It will take until the draft(s) and potentially years later to properly evaluate. Slow your roll. I know it's easy and fashionable to criticize the Flames for it now, and it could blow up in their faces if the islanders win the lottery with the pick. I would give this one more time. Chances are Hamonic isn't saddled with a boat anchor who looks to be actively playing his way out of town & a coaching staff that belligerently stick with it the pair next year. Let's wait and see.
Hamonic was fine. There was a recent article on the athletic that did the analysis showing Hamonic was better without Brodie, while Brodie was worse without Hamonic.
Also, it was mentioned last week on the Steve dangle podcast that the leafs had offered their first and JVR for Hamonic. So it's not like the Flames were out of line with their proposal.
