I find it ironic that there is any expectation of civility when there are such a large number of posters that are comfortable posting on a hate thread.

That's a fun, over-the-top, thread. Calling it a hate thread seems pretty extreme to me. We're Springfield, they're Shelbyville. Rivalries like this are in good fun.
