I feel bad for Gulutzan - I am sure he is a great guy and a really good human being, but I think he is out of his league at this level, or just needs more experience under different head coaches and on different teams. The Flames didn't seem to have many answers this year, and I think it comes from the coaching.

Great post C4L.
I'm pretty confident Gulutzan will not be retained. I think Treliving will go about his business and conclude that an easy way to improve will be to get an even better coach. Gulutuzan didn't have a lot of satisfying answers and didn't take responsibility for their shortcomings. He also didn't seem to understand why the Flames failed. Unless Treliving is blinded by loyalty to Gulutzan I don't really see any way he can be retained. I'm sure he will get negative feedback on coaching from a variety of the sources he talks to. Treliving thought the team should be better and I think a big portion of the blame naturally gets assigned to the coaches when is the case.
I don't think the firing will be fast enough for some people but I'm not super worried that Gulutzan will be back. I could be wrong but I hope I'm not.
