It's human psychology
I think part of the problem with game threads is that one type of person who is likely to post repeatedly in them is the type of person who has verbal diarrhea. Just typing every thought that pops into their head as if it needs to be shared with the world. Some of these verbal diarrhea posters are emotional and/or young/immature and/or drunk. So what you end up with in these types of real time reaction threads is some of the most vocal and frequent posters having a lot of emotional, off the cuff, not very well thought off verbal diarrhea type responses. This in turn elicits responses from some more level headed, stable posters and off you go, conflict ensues.
I don't really see how you get around it. A real time reaction thread is basically the perfect place for ill-thought out, emotion based overreactions. You create a forum with thousands of users and a GT will end up being dominated by these personalities and takes. It's unfortunate but I'm not really sure how you could ever get around it. One way perhaps would be to have a game time Chat application where everybody who wants to overreact, blame, rage, throw fits, etc can spam in real time with other high volume, low quality posters. Then have a thread on the board for more considered analysis of each period. I dunno.
Basically once you have a big enough community real time reaction threads are by nature going to be filled with a high volume of reactionary, emotional type responses. Those seeking considered analysis are going to be turned off and fail to find much of any.
