A young woman was drugged and sexually assaulted after answering an online personals ad, RCMP say.

Police said Wednesday that more women may have responded to the ad — which offered accommodation in a house in exchange for a "good time" — and had a similar encounter but are afraid to come forward.

Meanwhile, Calgary resident Ramanjit Singh Dhaliwal, 32, has been charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, administering a noxious substance and forcible confinement.

Police said a woman, 21, answered the online advertisement and met a man in Calgary, who took her to a home in the nearby town of Chestermere.

"It is alleged that, while at a residence, the victim was drugged with a 'date rape' drug, which incapacitated her. Sexual assault occurred against her will for a number of hours after which she regained consciousness and called the RCMP," police said.
