I'm not going to get too excited. I don't believe Treliving has any prior experience working with AV and if anyone has been paying attention he's hired people that he's worked with before almost exclusively. I don't think that necessarily means he's absolutely going to hire a guy that he's worked with for this important hire but that he's not going to prioritize AV as he's probably going to want to interview a bunch of guys like last time and there's going to be a group of teams that roll out the red carpet for AV and offer him contracts right away. The fact that Treliving didn't even bother to pick up the phone to ask Boudreau for an interview was a bit of a red flag for me in regards to how Treliving sees the coaching position as I feel he prioritizes what's in his mind the best fit over just getting the best coach (based on record and NHL success). Maybe I'm wrong of course but that's my read on things.
