When you take a look at what's happened lately and pass it off as the way things are it couldn't be anymore disingenuous.

Raanta looks good, but until there's a bigger sample size playing hockey that isn't meaningless where everyone's sleeping on your horrible team, I'd hold off on declaring the grass is definitely greener.

You have to look at it year to year though, as that’s what you’re competing against.

Consider that list if Talbot hadn’t fallen off a cliff unexpectedly. The Flames would be 2nd last.

In a vacuum, the Flames have seen marginal improvements in goaltending year over year, but what an utterly wasteful way to view things. You’re in competition with your division, directly.

Smith was a worthwhile shot as a stop gap, but perhaps the number of games played was just too much for him to handle at his age - which is why I’d want them to work Gillies into the fold significantly next year. May help maximize Smith’s performances as well while actively developing Gillies.

Mike Smith’s performance after the all-star game, prior to his injury, was unacceptable.
