Seriously, I want Treliving to write a book when he's retired and explain this. I cannot think of any other reason other than he wanted a pillow for a coach to baby the players, as opposed to the tough love from Bob Hartley. Also would like some insight on how the Dave Cameron hiring came to be - nothing from Cameron indicated he would be a good fit or build a coaching strategy that could improve the PP.

It aggravates me just thinking about these hires.
We will never know all the details, but perhaps it had something to do with Tortorella (head coach) moving on and experiencing some success with Columbus, and then Mike Sullivan moving on and experiencing massive success with the Penguins and completely turning them around. I would assume that those teams (Columbus and Pittsburgh) emulated how Treliving wanted Calgary to play... though of course it is just a flat-out guess. I am sure Gulutzan came in with a very sound plan and the organization liked what he seemed to be bringing to the table, probably liked Gulutzan the person, and saw the success that his former coaching team were having. At least these were things that they probably looked at anyway.
