The big one is any Canadian hockey player making US dollars is better off living year round in a Canadian city.
With Vancouver and Ottawa (maybe Montreal rebuilding), Edmonton without space and Winnipeg and Toronto somewhat built ... Calgary is really the only option in Canada unless a team like Toronto or Winnipeg makes some moves.
