With the expensive UFA addition, barring any major trades the top 9 forwards for the Flames are basically set next season. I'm not going to swap out any of the bottom 3 guys with specific "quality depth" players because that is entirely subjective.

Safe to say though that with $5 million in cap space that could be done easily enough, especially considering you are replacing a player who is already counting against the cap. Add a $2 million quality depth player and replace a 4th liner making $750k already, you are only adding $1.25 million to the cap total.

As for re-signing Tkachuk the following year, not a problem that I can see. There are plenty of ways to make up the cap space to extend him IF the cap doesn't go up enough again all by itself. Like the previously mentioned Brouwer buy out and/or the trading of an expensive Dman who would then be replaced by a younger cheaper up and coming Dman.
