Problem with Italy is that younger generation has no real interest in the sport. It has hurt both their player development, and the gates at the league. 15-25 year olds just aren't as invested in the sport as previous generations were.
Whether that is a cultural thing or just because of all the scandals and corruption the sport just doesn't seem to resonate with the younger generation anymore.

Thats interesting.
I kind of figured it has more to do with the globalization and commercialization of the game.
I'm more than happy for instance to watch a game on TV from half the world away. And that goes for most sports, I enjoy them, but I dont feel a need to go and actually see them except on the odd special occasion.
