Similar with Diablo 3. When it first came out, Act 2 on Inferno difficulty was notoriously difficult. It required actual skill and planning to succeed and was time consuming to get the right items to advance. Of course the general community cried that they couldn't complete it in an hour and it got nerfed. And then they did the same thing with Torment difficulties going up to 6 (and later 10) , to play in the highest Torment difficulty was suppose to be a challenge...but everyone complained so they made it easier. I never got it, if you just wanted to slay monsters quick and easy...why not stick to easier difficulties?
