While I don’t have anything to add to the OP, I will share a personal story:

About 15 of us, mostly a church group, were backpacking for a weekend. We were going somewhere fairly remote so we had to walk through some untouched terrain. We walked out of a forest into a grassy field and saw a small herd of cows. There was maybe 8 of them, 100 metres away, all tagged and somehow made it into public land. We didn’t think much of them and walked through the field until one of them, probably the alpha, perked it’s head up and started charging at us. The other 7 cows joined the charge.

Having never been attacked by a large animal before and my impression of cows have always been that they were slow, peaceful animals that always ate, I just froze on the spot in fear and confusion.

“Behind the tree!” Our organizer shouted, and we all hurried towards the lone tree in the field. We all had heavy overnight packs on so we didn’t have much time to think how we were going to handle thousand pounds of cows charging in our direction. I didn’t have bear spray but I pulled out my camping knife and all I could think about was how I was even going to remotely take this thing on and how this might be the last thing I do before I die.

BANG! A shot rang out in the air as one of us had his hunting rifle with him. He totally forgot he had it slung on his back while we were all running. The cows stopped dead on its tracks. BANG! The guy took another shot in the air and the cows dispersed to the edge of the field.

We all wasted no time running to the other forest on our way to the camp site with buddy and his rifle watching our backs.

Anyways, from that moment onward, if presented with a choice of “beef, chicken or pork?” The answer is always beef, twice on Sundays.
Make no mistake, herbivore or carnivore, they don’t care, they will murder you if given the choice . So murder them first and eat their flesh
